1995 MX-5 Miata Roadster

I own one of the best, affordable sport cars on the road today, a Mazda Miata. When I first saw a picture of one in 1989, I wanted one. For some reason, I decided to pretend I was a responsible adult, but in 1998, I broke down and bought a used 1995. It was the basic model, but had a set of BBS wheels that made it stand out. Oh, yeah... SOLD!

Modifications?

I haven't done a lot of mods to her...but she's not completely stock anymore. Nothing major, I put in Hella headlights, air horns, some driving/fog lights for to make her more visible to other cars, new KYB shocks and bought very expensive tires which I love (Toyo T1S's for those who have to know, soon to be replaced by ?). We got a rollbar for Christmas of 2000, Willan's harnesses for driver and passenger as another Christmas present (Thanks to my best friend), and as the badge says under the radio, it's non-turbocharged. I can get into enough trouble as it is...

Oh, I did modify the dipstick.

There were 36.000 miles on the odometer when I got her and as of 5/08, she's got a touch over 133,000 miles. I've driven her on the Gateway International track outside of St. Louis, on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and turned 100k while on the IMS front straightaway! I've also turned a few laps out at Putnam Park and have made the pilgrimage to Deal's Gap and have driven the Dragon. Not all the trips were fun, scroll down about half way to see a Miata under a semi! She protected me and I was able to drive her home though she spent some time in the body shop!)

I belong to the Indy Miata Club and currently am the editor of its newsletter, the Open Road. Photos from club events can be found here and at the club's website.

Miatas and Miata friends

I met a lot of great folks because of my Miata. Here's a few.
